But when cutting high reflective materials such as aluminum, copper, silver, etc., most of the energy is reflected and lost, which greatly reduces the practicality of the machine. Moreover, the photoelectric conversion rate of CO2 laser is only about 10%, and the cost of replacing and supplying liquid nitrogen, electricity consumption, and supporting cooling systems is huge. Its cutting of aluminum plates can only cut to a thickness of 3mm, which makes most aluminum plate cutting customers hesitant.
Fiber laser cutting machine is a new type of fiber laser developed internationally, which saves more space and gas consumption than carbon dioxide laser cutting machine. The wavelength of 1.06um is also more suitable for cutting metal materials. The fiber lasers currently available on the market are mainly IPG continuous light lasers, which are reliable in quality but expensive. However, there are very few laser manufacturers that can compete with them, which has resulted in the high overall price of fiber laser machines. At the same time, if one fiber in the laser is damaged, the entire laser must be replaced, and this maintenance cost also makes customers hesitant.
On the other hand, the YAG laser cutting machine, also with a wavelength of 1.06um, is very suitable for metal cutting. Moreover, YAG laser technology has been widely recognized and used as a mature laser technology by the international community. Its beam quality and pulse laser characteristics are suitable for the cutting process of metal materials, with high energy utilization efficiency. Meanwhile, the low purchase and usage costs have also attracted more and more customers.
