The woodworking band saw machine is the main source of noise in the lumber workshop. Especially for woodworking band saws with a saw wheel diameter of 1000mm, the noise is higher, reaching 95 to 105 dB (A). This seriously endangers the physical and mental health of workers, affects production efficiency, and has become one of the urgent public hazards that need to be addressed worldwide. The main causes of noise in woodworking band saws are the aerodynamic noise generated by the high-speed rotation of the saw wheel on the spoke type, namely the airflow rotation noise, vortex noise, and exhaust noise generated by the stirring of air by the spokes; Friction noise generated by the contact, friction, and impact between the saw blade and the saw wheel; The vibration noise of the saw blade caused by uneven force on the tight (working edge) and loose edges of the saw blade. In addition to changing the spoke structure of the upper saw wheel to a spoke plate structure as mentioned earlier, the following measures can be taken to reduce the noise of the woodworking band saw machine:
Saw wheel structure
1) Stick or spray a layer of elastic damping material (synthetic resin, etc.) on the surface of the upper saw wheel to attenuate the vibration of the wheel rim and spoke plate, which can suppress noise for 5-6 dB (A);
2) Process exhaust grooves on the saw wheel to reduce exhaust speed. The shape, depth, and area of the exhaust grooves affect noise;
3) Install a small hole resonator at the inlet and outlet of the upper saw wheel, with the size of the hole corresponding to the air vibration wave. With the help of resonance sound absorption, it consumes sound energy and reduces low-frequency noise by 2-3d B (A).
Damping measures
Replace the commonly used clamp guided hardwood saw card on the resistance edge of the band saw machine with damping saw card - felt, pneumatic, magnetic and other forms of saw card and motion guide plate, in order to evenly distribute the force on each point of the saw blade, suppress the vibration of the saw blade under excitation force and elastic force, and reduce noise by 2-4 dB (A); At the same time, it can greatly reduce the sliding between the saw blade and the saw wheel, improve the efficiency of the saw machine, and save power.
Improve saw blade
1) Stick a layer of steel or aluminum foil with epoxy resin on the bottom of the outer side of the saw blade, which can not only reduce the vibration of the saw blade, but also ensure rapid vibration attenuation.
2) Trim the weld seam of the saw blade, file the tooth shape, improve the bow back and tension of the saw blade, and reduce the cutting noise of the saw blade by 3-5 dB (A).
